An Update:
We're looking to become part of an existing nonprofit organization, which would serve as our umbrella, so "The Conversation" Project can help raise awareness about HIV and become a 501(c)3 project. If you know of a good agency that would be interested, please Contact Us.
Film Update:
We are looking for funding support to complete the initial 10 minute short which will serve as our introduction for the feature length documentary and assist in gaining funding for the whole project. We are trying to raise $1,000 for the 10 minute short. Currently any donations won't be tax deductible, but hopefully as soon as we find a suitable nonprofit to join it will be. Any amount will help, so please consider donating $5 or more through PayPal.
Featured Voice, Please click here for Joyce's Conversation.
We'll be featuring one person's story each month, a way of giving a voice to people who have a story to tell. We'll even be putting together a photo gallery with photos of how the film is developed and photos of others working with the book and film. If you'd like to be featured here, please complete the Questionnaire and return it to us. You can get the Questionnaire HERE.
Join in on "The Conversation"
Most everyone with HIV has had to have "The Conversation", as we affectionately call it, with our family, friends and potential partners. "The Conversation" can generate such pain, doubt, and confusion as to who a person is that it's hard to describe what a person goes through. Sometimes being HIV positive is like being the dead tree in a field of green, at least that's the way it feels, but the reality is that we are special people with hopes, dreams, and fears just like everyone else. The only difference, we're HIV positive, which separates us from so many, but it doesn't have to separate us, or silence us.
A book is being written with hopes of being able to provide a voice, that has long been silenced, to everyone connected with "The Conversation", including assisting newly diagnosed individuals with a resource to help guide them into the new world of "The Conversation". Along with the book, there are hopes of an artistic video documentary being made, which would be able to provide an even broader audience for "The Conversation", by an Austin, Texas, film maker. Negotiations have begun and hopefully the filming will begin before the book is actually published.
If you'd like to become involved, there are several ways of doing so. We are looking for an assortment of individuals - men, women, gay, straight, various ethnicities, various backgrounds, and even those who aren't HIV positive but have had "The Conversation" with others. If you have other questions or wish to Contact Us, please click the red ribbon.
